Erika Hara, a 27-year-old rookie from Japan, continued to shine on the LPGA Tour despite a slow start for Japanese players this season. Competing in the final round of the Mizuho Americas Open at Mountain Ridge Country Club in New Jersey, she carded a 69 with one eagle, three birdies, and two bogeys to finish at 5-under 283, securing her second consecutive top‑10 finish and her best result on tour.
“I felt really comfortable with my approach shots this week, which helped a lot. My putting didn’t have many misses to the left, and I was able to play without any doubts,” Hara said after the round. Starting the day in a tie for 12th, she closed with two straight birdies, prompting a smile: “To finish with a birdie feels really good.”
Hara, who earned a promotion from the developmental tour this year, now has three top‑10 finishes this season, moving from 44th to 35th in the season-long points race. Among Japanese players, she ranks sixth, behind Miyu Yamashita (10th), Chisato Iwai (12th), Minami Katsu (18th), Akie Iwai (21st), and Rio Takeda (28th). This strong performance pushes her closer to securing a card for next season, with the top 80 in points earning full status.
