Russian national team coach Nikolai Pisarev stated on “Match TV” that FC Krasnodar suffered from a shortage of players at the end of the season. After a 2-1 loss to Dynamo Moscow in the 29th round of the Russian Premier League, Krasnodar missed their chance to reclaim the top spot.
“Many have discussed Krasnodar’s squad depth—effectively only 13 players. If Lenini or Boselli had scored today, we might be saying something different. But your opponent makes five substitutions to strengthen, while you only make three, bringing on Zhubal for a direct approach. In the end, the bench wasn’t enough. Plus, they have the Cup Superfinal ahead. The championship isn’t lost yet, but moving forward, everyone understands that for a title challenge, the squad needs to be larger,” Pisarev said on the program “All on Match!” on Match TV.
Krasnodar sits second in the league table with 63 points, trailing Zenit St. Petersburg by two points before the final round.
