Marc Márquez will not compete this Sunday at Le Mans, nor will he race at Montmeló next weekend. The rider from Cervera has suffered a fracture in the fifth metatarsal of his right foot and will fly to Madrid for surgery in the coming days.
This means the 33-year-old will miss the French Grand Prix, where he was set to start from second position, as well as the Catalan Grand Prix, held close to his home. It should be noted that Márquez already had a planned operation to address a right shoulder issue.
With 57 points, the nine-time world champion sits fifth in the overall standings, 51 points behind leader Marco Bezzecchi. He scored zero points in the sprint race after suffering a violent highside crash on the penultimate lap, which left him limping off the track. As a result, he will go without points in both the Sunday race and next week’s Grand Prix, meaning he faces a significant challenge if he hopes to defend his 2025 MotoGP title this season.
