Spanish newspaper Sport described Flick as the “Master of El Clasico,” noting: “The German coach boasts a near-perfect record against Real Madrid and has become a nightmare for their fans. Just mentioning Hansi Flick’s name strikes fear into the hearts of many Madrid supporters.”
Since taking charge of Barcelona, the German has indeed transformed into a genuine bogeyman for the capital club. Wednesday’s match at Camp Nou marked Flick’s seventh Clasico as Blaugrana boss, with an impressive record of six wins and only one defeat—that sole loss coming in the first leg of this season’s La Liga campaign.
This dominance helps explain why, since arriving in Spanish football in the summer of 2024, Flick has won every available domestic trophy except for this season’s Copa del Rey, which was claimed by Real Sociedad. His haul includes two La Liga titles, two Spanish Super Cups, and one Copa del Rey—five trophies out of a possible six.
