LONDON, May 10 (China News Service) – The 2026 ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships concluded on Sunday with the men’s team final. The Chinese men’s squad defeated Japan 3-0 to successfully defend their title, securing a 12th consecutive world team championship and their 24th in history.
In the final match, China fielded Liang Jingkun, Wang Chuqin, and Lin Shidong. Liang Jingkun faced Japan’s Tomokazu Harimoto in the opening match. After losing the first two games, he mounted a gritty comeback, winning three straight games to take a 3-2 victory and give China an early lead.
In the second match, world number one Wang Chuqin took on Sora Matsushima. With consistent offense and defense, and crucial point control, he won 3-1 to extend China’s lead to 2-0. Lin Shidong then faced Shunsuke Togami in the third match, delivering a steady performance to win 3-1 and seal the overall victory.
With the win, the Chinese table tennis team captured both the men’s and women’s team titles at this year’s championships, reaffirming its dominance on the global stage.
